Adaptation of a Plant

An adaptation of a plant is a feature that allows a plant to live in a certain environment developed overtime.
The adaptations developed to these plants make it difficult for it to survive in a different environment.
These adaptations are out of necessity for survival. A plant may adapt by growing closer and lower to the ground, which can shield it from the wind and cold. For example the Venus fly trap plant adapted to live in soil that doesn't provide enough nutrients and the cacti adapted to living in the desert environment.  Pine cones protect the seeds of pine trees during the harsh winter so new trees can blossom in the spring.
